Notes:
Found in US census, 1840 in Eaton, Madison Co. NY. Roll 295, page 104. My great grandmother, Phebe DUNBAR, b. 1825, in Madison Co. (probably Eaton--her older and younger siblings were born in Eaton) was the daughter of Phebe PEET. A Lewis PEET is found in Hamilton, Chenango Co. NY in 1800 with a female, and a female child. Phebe was born abt 1790, and Madison Co. was formed from Chenango in 1806. it would be logical for the family in 1840 to state that the children had been born in Madison Co. (Series M32, roll 28, Part 1, page 828) In Eaton, Madison Co. NY, 1840 Census, Roll 295, page 104, Lewis Peet was a resident--the closest I have found think he might have been thr father of Phebe Peet, since she married Robert Dunbar, also a resident in that town.
In 1820 Census, Robert Dunbar lived in Eaton, Madison Co. NY, Page 58, Roll 73. Image 6400 . A Phebe Peet is found in Cazenovia, Madison Co. Ny 1850 Census, Roll 526 Pg 86. (For reference only--don`t know any connection.)
John Peet, an immigrant from England arrived in the colonies in 1635 on the ship "Hopewell", and settled in Stratfield, CT.
