Norris Segur, born Feb 20, 1799 in New Hartford, CT, moved to Independence in 1840. He married married Amanda Mix, and settled on the farm where his son, Orville, now lives in 1895 taking up 100 acres, building a primitive log house and developed a fine farm. He died in 1887, his wife in 1892."
